How can AWS assist with data center exits?
AWS offers a structured approach to help public sector organizations successfully exit their data centers. This includes evaluating the current environment, building a comprehensive business case, customizing a migration strategy, and maximizing the value of existing assets. AWS also provides support in navigating complex regulations and offers flexible terms for asset disposition.
What challenges do organizations face during data center exits?
Organizations often face challenges such as owned facilities that are hard to market, long-term leases or colocation agreements, legacy hardware with remaining book value, and the need for a hardware refresh during migration. AWS helps address these issues through tailored solutions and financial strategies.
What phases are involved in AWS's migration process?
AWS's migration process consists of four key phases: Assess, where the current environment is evaluated; Mobilize, which prepares the AWS Cloud foundation; Migrate and modernize, where the actual migration occurs using automated tools; and Decommission and operate, which involves finalizing the data center exit and ensuring best practices for cloud operations.
